I am soooo excited about the Student National Medical
Association’s Annual Medical Education Conference being held in New Orleans
from April 1-5, 2015! This will be the 3rd AMEC that I have ever
attended, but it will be my first as a medical student. I am also excited to be
presenting my very first workshop! The title of the workshop will be “Applying
to Medical School as a Non-Traditional Student”, and I look forward to covering
some of the questions I get asked most frequently through my blog, as well as
offering a little encouragement and inspiration along the way. Although the
focus will be on non-traditional students, the workshop will hopefully help anyone
interested in applying to medical school :-)
If you’re a pre-medical student who will be attendance, I would
love it if you would come and check me out. I’ll be presenting on Saturday, April
4, 2015 from 11am-12pm, but make sure you download the “AMEC 2015” app to your
phones to get the exact location. I would love the chance to meet some of my
awesome readers!!!!
With that being said, I have two upcoming exams on Monday and the conference shortly
after that, so this will be my last post for at least another week. Leave me a
quick note if you’ll be attending this year’s AMEC, and see you in New Orleans!

Thank you, it went great! I actually have considered writing a book and even started on it before school started, but decided against it. With the way financial aid is set up though, I think I might resume it this summer, lol. I'll make sure to let you know if I do!

I interviewed at GA-PCOM back in January, but was put on hold, which I'm still on...hope to get an acceptance soon... nice to see that there is a minority presence at ga-pcom, didn't see that many on interview day...i think I vaguely remember seeing you at the interviewee lunch..any who keep the post coming and good luck with everything...god willing I may get to meet you in person come fall.
ReplyDeleteKeep the faith! Once you've been interviewed, acceptances can come right up until the start of classes. Just make sure you express your interest to admissions. You probably did see me at the lunch on interview day (I can't remember if I was a mentor or a runner though), and there definitely is a huge minority presence (of all types) on campus! Usually the interviews are held on days when a lot of people aren't there, so that could have been the reason why you didn't see too many. Anyway, best of luck to you and hopefully I'll see you in the fall :-)
